Exhibition

Slumdog Millionaire was released on the 9th of January 2009. It was a medium reales type and the significance of the reales date was that their was not one. they released the film when they could as they found it hard to get it into the cinema at all. I would say this was an independent film as it faced many challenges that a mainstream film would easily over come such as distribution and marketing. But later crossed over to mainstream as it became a bigger film. The target audience was between 15-24 years of age as it appealed to their mind set more than say 50 year olds. at first the film had a limited reales but as it started to do well it was brought out on a wider scale witch was a smart move.

Theatrical posters

They marketed the film using love and money things and objects that appeal to everyone in a certain way.  They use theatrical posters to market the film to various different age groups. One poster is a more dark and blurry creating a sense of fast paced action. The other is a more upbeat poster with the main character cheering. it has a white background with a sort of gold text laid over it to make it stand out more and i think its done very well as I prefer the second over the two. I believe the USP os Slumdog to be the fact that its about the under dog rising up to change his life.
